Rules and Regulations of Boxing

 

While the story of pugilism may be a tale as old as time, modern codified versions of boxing can be traced back to the 1500s. This is when rules started being put into place, with famous regulations such as the London Prize Ring rules and the Marquess of Queensbury rules dating to the 19th century.

Today, there is variation in the rules of boxing because of the fact that there is no universal ruling body that creates regulations. Hence, each country tends to have its own bodies and sets of rules which they create; in the United States of America, for example, each state has its own rules. Read Full Article
