Majority decision vs Split decision vs Unanimous: What's the difference?

 

As we all know, judges play a key role in boxing contests. If there is no knockout or disqualification, i.e. when both combatants are still standing after the last round, the judges choose the winner. They must pay close attention throughout the match, score each round based on the contestants' performances, and then sum all of these scores together to declare a winner. Since each judge scores for themselves alone – the other judges are not permitted to observe their scores and vice versa, the final result may vary and there are various potential outcomes.
